Vincent Macaigne
Born in Paris in 1978, Vincent Macaigne is a French actor and director, renowned for his contributions to theatre and film. A graduate of the Conservatoire National Supérieur d'Art Dramatique (CNSAD), he began his career on the stage before turning to film and directing.
Vincent Macaigne came to prominence in the 2010s with landmark roles in films such as Justine Triet's La Bataille de Solférino (2013) and Guillaume Brac's Tonnerre (2013), the latter earning him international recognition. His performance in Emmanuel Mouret's Les Choses qu'on dit, les choses qu'on fait (2020) earned him a nomination for the César for Best Actor in 2021. In 2023, he played the French painter Pierre Bonnard alongside Cécile de France in the film Bonnard, Pierre et Marthe directed by Martin Provost.
As a director, Vincent Macaigne has made several acclaimed short films, including Ce qu'il restera de nous (2012), which won the Grand Prize at the Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival. He followed this up with projects such as Pour le réconfort (2017), a film he wrote, directed and starred in, illustrating his unique and personal vision of cinema.
Vincent Macaigne is also very active in the theatre, where he directs both contemporary and classic plays, often with a modern, caustic approach. His adaptation of Molière's Dom Juan in 2015 is particularly notable for its bold, contemporary take on the classic character.
