Asghar Farhadi
Born in 1972, Iranian director Asghar Farhadi made his feature film debut with Danse dans la poussière (2002). After the success of the film À propos d'Elly (2009), which won him the Silver Bear for Best Director at the Berlinale, he touched audiences around the world with Une séparation (2011), for which he won over seventy international awards, including the Oscar and the César for Best Foreign Film. He then left Iran for France to direct Le Passé (2013), for which Bérénice Béjo won the Best Actress prize at the Cannes Film Festival in 2013. Asghar Farhadi finally returned to Iran to make Le Client (2015). Selected in Competition at the Cannes Festival, the film won the Screenplay Prize and the Best Actor Award (Shahab Hosseini). It became Asghar Farhadi's biggest success, and he went on to win the second Oscar of his career. His latest film, Un héros (2021), won the Grand Prize at the 74th Cannes Film Festival.
Asghar Farhadi was President of the Jury at the 15th edition of the Arcs Film Festival.
