CONFERENCE: FROM AWARENESS TO ACTION
TOOLS TO FIGHT GENDER-BASED VIOLENCE IN THE INDUSTRY
Gender-based and sexual violence remain pressing issues in the film industry, often disrupting productions and leaving long-lasting impacts. In collaboration with the Lab Femmes de Cinéma, this roundtable will explore strategies to confront these challenges, building on the work of the French professional group RESPECT with notably producers Caroline Bonmarchand and Alice Girard. The group has developed a "toolbox" of recommendations focusing on prevention, response during productions, and the management of films affected by such violence, including for ensuring release in theatres and handling promotion issues. This session will explore these tools, and broaden the conversation to Europe, inviting producers and experts to share insights and resources.
With Alice Girard (Rectangle Productions), Caroline Bonmarchand (Avenue B Productions), Fabienne Silvestre (Le Lab Femmes de Cinéma), Birgit Moldaschl (Austrian Film Institute) & Tábata Cerezo (CIMA)

CONFERENCE: A PRODUCER’S LIFE IS UNFAIR
REDEFINING THE CREATIVE PRODUCER’S ROLE IN INTERNATIONAL COPRODUCTIONS
In the intricate world of international co-productions, creative producers often find themselves at a disadvantage. While they spearhead projects and bear the weight of creative and logistical leadership, financial disparities among partner countries can lead to unequal outcomes. Through this discussion, we will explore strategies to safeguard the creative producer’s role, whether they are a majority or minority coproducer, ensuring fairer revenue distribution and recognition of their essential contributions. Join us in redefining what equitable collaboration means in the ever-globalized film industry.
